Men's Playoff Picture: Saints on the Move
St. Norbert clinched the 2012 NCHA regular season championship
and St. Scholastica took control of the #2 seed Friday night in
NCHA Men's Conference play. The Saints control their destiny
to grab the second seed; St. Norbert will get a bye in the opening
round of the Peters Cup Playoffs.
Here are some notes on the latest scenarios:
* St. Norbert is the regular season champion and earns the #1 seed
and first round playoff bye. The Green Knights will host a
semifinal playoff game on Saturday, February 25.
* St. Scholastica now controls its own destiny to obtain the #2
seed, via the Saints' head-to-head tiebreaker over UW-River
Falls.
* UW-Superior, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout are all locked into their
seeds, which are 5-6-7, respectively. Each team's first round
playoff opponent is yet to be determined.
* Tiebreaker info to apply to various scenarios involving St.
Scholastica, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point ...
+ St. Scholastica holds tiebreaker on UW-River Falls and split the
season series with UW-Stevens Point.
+ UW-River Falls split season series with UW-Stevens Point and
loses a tiebreaker to St. Scholastica. A tie between the
Falcons and Pointers would be won by UW-River Falls, because UWRF
is guaranteed to have more NCHA wins.
+ UW-Stevens Point split season series with both St. Scholastica
and UW-River Falls. The Pointers would lose a tiebreaker with
UW-River Falls because of NCHA wins. A tie between UWSP and
St. Scholastica could come down to overall goal differential, which
UWSP is currently a +3 and CSS a +2.
