PLAYOFF PICTURE - MEN

The final weekend of play in the regular season is upon us and the Harris Cup Playoffs picture is clearer than it was a week ago, but still unsettled.  Particularly in the North Division.  Here's the situation:

SOUTH DIVISION

Adrian - Clinched #1 seed and home ice for Quarterfinals (and Semifinals, if they advance) ... One point this weekend vs MSOE or Concordia-Wis outright clinches the overall #1 seed and the Peters Cup for regular season championship ... Will host #4 MSOE in the Quarterfinals.

Concordia-Wis - Clinched playoff spot and controls #2 seed ... One point at Trine or at Adrian this weekend clinches #2 seed and home ice for Quarterfinals (CUW holds tiebreak on Lake Forest) ... Quarterfinal opponent will be Lake Forest ... CUW would have to lose twice this weekend and LFC would have to sweep Aurora for LFC to host Quarterfinal series.

Lake Forest - Clinched playoff spot and will be either #3 or #2 seed ... Quarterfinal opponent will be Concordia-Wis ... Would need to sweep Aurora and CUW would need to lose at Trine and at Adrian in order for LFC to host Quarterfinal series.

MSOE - Clinched playoff spot and is locked into #4 seed ... Will play at #1 Adrian in Quarterfinals.

NORTH DIVISION

St. Norbert - Clinched #1 seed and home ice for Quarterfinals (and Semifinals, if they advance) ... Can clinch a share of regular season title with sweep of Finlandia and two losses by Adrian to MSOE and Concordia-Wis ... If Top-4 finishing teams remains as-is (ADR, SNC, CUW, MAR), a SNC sweep and two Adrian losses would give the #1 overall seed to SNC via record vs Top-4 ... Opponent for Quarterfinals will be Northland, Lawrence or St. Scholastica.

Marian - Clinched playoff spot and controls #2 seed ... Clinches #2 and home ice for Quarterfinals with a win or tie at St. Scholastica ... A loss to CSS and a win at Northland also clinches home ice ... Holds a +1 lead over CSS in divisional wins heading into this weekend ... Holds H2H tiebreak on Lawrence ... Can finish as high as #2 and as low as #3.

St. Scholastica - Clinched playoff spot and controls #3 seed ... Can finish as high as #2 seed, with two wins this weekend and two losses by Marian, and as low as #4, with two losses ... Trails Marian -1 in divisional wins and leads Lawrence +1 ... In a tie with MAR at 20 pts, MAR would win tiebreaker via most conference wins ... In a tie with MAR at 21 pts, CSS would win tiebreak via most divisonal wins.

Lawrence - Clinches playoff spot with win or tie at Northland ... Controls #3 seed ... A loss Friday at Northland and a NC win in the 4p game Saturday vs Marian would make LU at St. Scholastica (7p) a must-win for LU ... LU would lose tiebreaker to NC at 17 points via divisional wins ... LU would win tiebreaker with NC at 16 points via conference wins.

Northland - Must win twice this weekend against Lawrence and Marian and Lawrence must lose or tie Saturday at St. Scholastica ... Cannot finish higher than #4 seed ... Would lose tiebreaker to St. Scholastica at 17 points ... Two wins plus a Lawrence loss or tie at St. Scholastica clinches #4 seed (via divisional wins tiebreaker).
