Memorable Game for Rork

SAINT PAUL (January 17, 2012) – Adrian College senior forward Olivia Rork (Wayne, Mich. / Victory Honda) has been selected Player fo the Week in the NCHA Women’s Conference for the week ending January 16.  Rork put together one of the greatest individual single-game performances in NCHA history last Sunday in a 7-3 win over visiting Concordia-Wisconsin.

After being held scoreless in game one of the series, Rork responded with a five-point game the following day.  Her three goals and two assists tied her at 3rd place all-time for most points in a single NCHA contest.  The all-time most points in a game is eight (Mika Sharpe, UW-Superior, December 2, 2000).

Three of Rork’s points came before the Lady Bulldogs started to pull away from the Falcons.  She opened the scoring at 8:14 of the first and then assisted on a goal just under two minutes later.  With the score 2-1 Adrian, she assisted on a Danielle Smith goal midway through the second period.  She completed her hat trick with a goal at 6:50 of the third, putting Adrian up 7-1.

Around the Rinks ...

Lake Forest, UW-River Falls Split:  The Foresters and Falcons split in a highly-anticipated series between the top two teams in the conference.  UW-River Falls had three players with multi-point games in a 5-1 win last Friday.  The Falcons shot out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of that game.  Lake Forest responded with a 4-2 win the next day, paced by goalie Stacey Dierking’s 35 saves.  She made 15 saves in the third period alone.

Wednesday Night Showdown:  East-West bragging rights will be on the line Wednesday when UW-River Falls hosts #7 Amherst.  Amherst’s signature wins this year include a 3-2 win over #4 Middlebury and a 3-2 win over #6 Plattsburgh.
