Women's Weekly Release

Dani Schultz UW-Superior freshman forward Dani Schultz (Morris, Minn. / Morris Area HS) has been named the first Women's Player of the Week in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association for the 2011-12 season, the league announced this afternoon.  Morris scored significant goals in both games of a split last weekend with non-conference foe Hamline University.

On Friday night, with the Yellowjackets outshooting but trailing the Pipers, Schultz tied the game 1-1 with her goal at 10:57 of the second period.  Midway through the third, she scored the eventual game-winner while sparking a four-goal outburst for UWS.

Last Saturday Schultz got UW-Superior off to a great start with a first period goal at 11:31.  The lead did not hold up, however, despite the 'Jackets outshooting Hamline 45-13 on the day.

Other outstanding performances from last weekend:

Brooke Hanson, UWSP - Posted a goal and two assists in the Pointers 4-2 victory over St. Olaf last Friday.

Amanda Waigand, MARIAN - Scored both goals for the Sabres in a 4-2 loss to St. Ben's.

Jenna Brankin, LFC - Freshman made her college debut with a 23-save shutout of St. Mary's.
