Spellmire put up some impressive offensive numbers to claim NCHA Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Spellmire posted back-to-back hat tricks at Aurora University over the weekend. She scored three times in the opening period of Saturday night’s game and then followed that up by lighting the lamp once during each period Sunday. One of Spellmire’s goals in each contest came on the power play and she added an assist on the team’s first goal on Sunday to finish the weekend with seven points. Her effort on Saturday spurred LFC to a new NCHA record for most goals in a league contest at 13 (was 11).
Pattengale shined in her only action of the week to earn NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors. Pattengale made 35 stops in the Falcons 3-2 overtime win over Marian Saturday. The junior was a big reason the Falcons penalty kill thrived Saturday, killing off eight of nine Marian power play opportunities. The only power play goal allowed was a 5-on-3 score early in the game.
