Face-Off Notes: Another weekend of NCHA play for the fans

St. Norbert at home for the first time facing Trine who is on the road for the first time

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) season is still fairly fresh. Those on the women's side will compete in league play for just the second time this weekend.

Lighting the lamp: Aurora and St. Norbert have lit the lamp often this season, to the tune of 19 times each. The Spartans have a season-high seven goals in a shutout win last weekend, while the Green Knights have tallied five or more goals in three of their five games so far. Individually, reigning NCHA Player of the Year Darci Matson (Aurora) lead the league with six goals and Courtnie Hogan (St. Norbert) and Une Bjelland (Adrian) are one back with five goals each, respectivelly.

Off the bus and on the bus: St. Norbert is going to skate on its own sheet of ice inside the  Cornerstone Community Center for the first time this weekend. The Green Knights have piled on over 1,000 miles so far this season in trips to Hamline, Lake Forest and Marian. Meanwhile, Trine is packing its bags for the first time with a lengthy trip to St. Norbert. It will be roughly a 750 mile roundtrip weekend for the Thunder.

Another hat trick: So far this season Courtnie Hogan (St. Norbert0, Une Bjelland (Adrian) and Darci Matson (Aurora) are the three skaters who have recorded a hat trick or better in a game. As of November 5, there have been only 10 hat tricks or better in the country.
