Adrian selected to win regular season in NCHA Women's Hockey Coaches' Preseason Poll

Bulldogs captured Kronschnabel Cup (regular season) and Slaats Cup (tournament) last season

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Adrian was selected to win the 2024-25 regular season as voted on by the coaches in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Women's Hockey Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Bulldogs earned 96 total points and had eight of the 10 first-place votes. A season ago they won both the Kronschnabel Cup (regular season) and Slaats Cup (tournament).

"We are truly grateful for the recognition as a contender in the NCHA," said Adrian women's hockey head coach Chad Davis. "We understand this season will be highly competitive, and we look forward to the challenges ahead."

The Bulldogs have won three-straight regular season titles and eight of the last nine tournament championships. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament Championship game a year ago before falling 3-2 to No. 1 ranked UW-River Falls.

St. Norbert finished in second place with 89 points and a first-place vote, while Lake Forest had 69 points and a first-place vote. Aurora and Concordia Wisconsin came in fourth and fifth with 67 and 65 points, respectively.

Marian was sixth with 50 points, Trine had 43 points in seventh and Lawrence tallied 31 points in the eighth spot. Dubuque had 25 points and MSOE received 15 points to round out the preseason poll.

The regular season kicks off on Friday November 1, with six of the league teams playing non-conference games. The NCHA portion of the schedule starts on November 8 with Dubuque, Concordia Wisconsin, MSOE, Aurora and Marian all hosting.

The NCHA's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the eight-team Slaats Cup Playoffs, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
