ADRIAN, Mich. — The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced its men's hockey 3 Stars of the Week for games played during the opening weekend (October 31-November 1).
Jacob Brockman, F, Sr., Aurora
Brockman powered the Aurora offense, recording 3 goals over the weekend as the Spartans swept their two contests. The senior forward scored an even-strength goal against Augsburg in Friday's 4-1 victory. The El Segundo, Calif., native then followed up with a two-goal performance on Saturday against Dubuque, netting the Spartans' first two goals in the 5-2 win. All three of his goals were scored at even strength.
David Clarke, D, So., Adrian
Clarke, a sophomore defenseman, led the Adrian offense from the blue line, tallying 3 points (2G, 1A) to help the Bulldogs secure a sweep over No. 2 Utica on the road. On Friday, the defenseman netted the game-winning goal at 6:35 in the third period and added an assist on the team's final goal, contributing to the 3-1 victory. The Tecumseh, Mich., native followed up on Saturday by scoring an unassisted, even-strength goal just 20 seconds into the second period of the 5-3 win.
Ryan Piros, GK, So., Adrian
Piros backstopped Adrian to a perfect 2-0 weekend sweep against No. 2 Utica, stopping 54 of 58 shots he faced for a combined save percentage of .931. The sophomore was stellar on Friday, allowing only 1 goal on 31 shots (.968 SV%) in the 3-1 victory over the Pioneers. The Howell, Mich., native followed up on Saturday with 24 saves to secure the 5-3 win and complete the sweep for the Bulldogs.
