ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced its women's hockey 3 Stars of the Week for games played February 3-8.
Macy Blooming, GK, Fr., Aurora
Blooming was a cornerstone for the Spartans this past weekend, leading Aurora to a pivotal series sweep over MSOE. The Milwaukee, Wis., native turned aside 35-of-36 shots faced over the two-game series. On Friday, Blooming was spectacular in a 20-save shutout performance on the road in Milwaukee. She followed that up on Saturday with a 15-save effort in a 4-1 victory. Her performance helped the Spartans secure six points and move up in the conference standings as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Maddy Loe, F, Fr., Adrian
Loe provided critical scoring and playmaking during the Bulldogs' high-stakes split with Concordia Wisconsin. The Petoskey, Mich., native recorded 4 points (2G, 2A) in the series. While she netted a goal in Friday's high-scoring affair, her true impact came in Saturday's 5-2 comeback win. Loe scored the game-tying goal in the 2nd period to erase a 2-0 deficit and then provided two assists to secure the victory and hand the Falcons their first conference loss of the season.
Jillian Traver, GK, So., Marian
Traver was unbeatable in net for the Sabres, pitching back-to-back shutouts to lead Marian to a weekend sweep of Trine. The Beloit, Wis., native was a model of consistency, making 20 saves on Saturday to secure a 3-0 win and returning on Sunday to stop all 19 shots in a 2-0 victory. Traver finished the weekend a perfect 39-for-39 in save opportunities, providing the Sabres with the defensive stability needed to earn a pair of key conference wins.
