ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced its women's hockey 3 Stars of the Week for games played February 12-14.
Natalie Meeder, F, Fr., Dubuque
Meeder was an offensive juggernaut for the Spartans during a high-scoring series against Aurora. The Woodbury, Minn., native racked up an six points (4G, 2A) over the weekend. In Saturday's finale, Meeder accounted for all four of Dubuque’s goals, recording a rare feat by scoring at even strength, on the power play, and twice while short-handed to complete the four-goal performance. Her relentless attack kept the Spartans competitive in a weekend that saw a combined 20 goals between the two programs.
MaryFrancis Williams, F, Jr., MSOE
Williams provided the veteran leadership and scoring punch necessary for the Raiders to secure a vital sweep over Lake Forest. The Stillwater, Minn., native finished the weekend with five points (3G, 2A). Williams was the offensive catalyst in Friday’s overtime thriller, netting a natural hat trick — including the game-tying goal in the third period — to erase a multi-goal deficit. She followed that up on Saturday by recording assists on both of MSOE's goals in a 2-1 victory, directly contributing to five of the Raiders' seven goals on the weekend.
Grace Wittkopf, D, Sr., St. Norbert
Wittkopf was a force at both ends of the ice, leading the Green Knights to a home-and-home sweep of Lawrence without surrendering a single goal. The Eagle River, Wis., native anchored a defensive unit that pitched back-to-back shutouts, while also providing significant offensive production from the blue line. Wittkopf netted three goals over the two-game stretch, including the game-winner and a power-play marker on Thursday. Her two-way dominance helped St. Norbert outscore the Vikings 10-0 over the series.
