ADRIAN, Mich. — The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced its men's hockey 3 Stars of the Week for games played November 25-29.
Nikita Borodayenko, F, Sr., Dubuque
Borodayenko, a senior forward from Dmitrov, Russia, was the offensive engine for the Spartans as they secured victories over UW-Superior and Lawrence to claim the Superior Showdown Championship. He accumulated 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) across the two games, directly contributing to more than half of Dubuque's nine goals. On Friday, he tallied 4 points (1G, 3A), including an assist on the game-winning goal, in the 4-1 victory. He followed that performance by scoring the game-winning goal himself on Saturday in the 5-1 win over Lawrence.
Calvin Hanson, F, Jr., St. Norbert
Hanson, a junior forward from Hallock, Minn., provided key offensive leadership during St. Norbert's tough split with UW-Eau Claire, recording 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). In Friday’s dominant 6-1 victory, Hanson assisted on two different goals, including the game-tying goal in the 1st period. He remained a strong presence on Saturday, scoring the team’s second goal in the eventual 4-2 loss.
Dazza Mitchell, GK, Fr., Dubuque
Mitchell, a freshman goaltender from Regina, Saskatchewan, was phenomenal in net, backstopping the Spartans to their two wins. Mitchell faced 55 shots over the weekend and surrendered just two goals, posting a stellar .964 save percentage. He stopped 30 shots in the 4-1 win over UW-Superior and followed up with 23 saves in the 5-1 win against Lawrence.
